Savoy

M and I just started a new tradition here in Zürich. Every second Saturday, with the help of our nanny, we enjoy a long lunch somewhere in the city or around the lake side. It's a great way to get some nice time together when you're parents.
We started this weekend with a Sandwich de la Semaine, a classic at Savoy (M had an excellent venisson, spot on for the season) which is another top notch hotel here in Zürich. Savoy is located smack in the middle of Paradeplatz. The flower decoration on the main buildings wall is always a delightful sight very well taken care of and the atmosphere is that old timer, classic luxury without being to flashy. The restaurant itself is mostly crowded with well dressed, elegant older men and ladies but you will also find a classy group of younger 30-something women having a shopping/lunch/Champagne get-together. We guessed that the average age when we dined there was about 60 years old. Analysing the feeling when we ate there, I would probably recommend it for a girl-date with some nice chatting, than for a romantic lunch place.

Please feel free if you know some extraordinary restaurant - either for its looks, for the atmosphere or for the food itself. We both love exploring new places!

  4. That tradition is a great idea.

I'm really fond of Kronenhalle, because of the excellent food and the beautiful paintings. I love having a drink at the Dolder Grand with a magnificent view over Zurich. I would also recommend Cafe Schober, almost as good as Sprüngli, if not better.

    Best regards
