Well, today is a really cold day here in Geneva and on days like this I normally wear my old Bally curling boots. They have sheep fur inside and are made with real rubber soles which makes them warm. Outside I would wear a fur or a big duvet jacket in black with a turtleneck in a warm material like cashmere or wool with a long cotton t-shirt underneath and an underwear top (linne) under that. Different levels in other words. Jeans with stockings under and real leather gloves, but not the finger ones, more the mittens that keep the heat better. A hat and a big shawl in same warm material and there you go.
Any other, better suggestions or tips? I'm always cold and would gladly like to read them!

ReplyDeletelove the coat. I am the same. I am always cold !! and wear tons of layers and cashmere undershirts and stockings under my jeans. But I found a new solution. Ginger tea. it warms you up and really helps. I am drinking fresh ginger tea all day, it really works.... advice from my chinese dr. acupuncturist ; )

DeleteJag är så glad att jag har för riktigt kalla dagar (-10C i Stockholm nu)mina varma fårskinnkappor, båda med en huva. Jag vill tipsa dig om fantastik shopping i min hemstad Riga i Lettland. Där kan man köpa rigtigt tjusiga vinterkappor och skor (alla möjliga modeller, italienska, även med klack, med varm äkta fårpäls foder). Det finns fodrade vinter kappor i ulltyg med pälskragar, kappor i vattenavvisande tyg med avtagbar foder i kaninpäls och fodrade huvor i mink etc, men också pälsar och mjukaste italineska figursydda! fårskinkappor i svart, brunt eller ljusa färger, med tjock mjuck får päls, det finns inte liknande i Stockholm, inte äns i London, där jag köpte min förra, den var också italiensk men inte alls figursydd, utan huva och av hårdare skinn. I Riga kan man hitta också pälsmössor av alla möjliga slag och andra varma kläder, som är ändå snygga och trendiga, så man behöver se ut som fjällvandrare (så säger min sveska väninna svenskar se ut som på vinter :)). Det finns också underbara butiker med franska och italienska märken som inte finns i Sverige och lokala designers. Priser för vintekläder är en anning billigar trots bättre kvalité. I love how you have the fur down the arms of the coat. Did you put it after? or bought it like this ? It's a good ides because it's very large, so very original and as usual the same colours than I used at this period of winter. You look so pretty in this snow !
ReplyDeleteFor the the best to be warm is to cover my head with a wool or cashmere hat (same colour than bag, or coat) going down almost right to the sinus with a very red lipstick in order not looking to ugly ! And exactly the same like you for underwaer behind pullover and jeans. I even wear Hug or equivalent longer to the knees with fur inside and of course I wear my fur coats without any guilt complex... XXXX Ginger and lemon are very good if we catch a cold it's true.
Dear Uta, I bought it like this but that was why I fell in love with it, because it felt original and can also be used put together with the other arm when you forget gloves.
DeleteYes, I should wear a hat indeed! I also like to wear a cashmere or wool shawl, Grace Kelly style in wintertime when getting bored of hats. And also, a shawls wont ruin the volume of the hair as much,

ReplyDeleteByt ut bomullstopp mot topp i silkes/ullblanding, t.ex. Calida har bra. Transporterar bort ev fukt bättre och håller värmen bra. Finns även som långkalsonger för riktigt kalla dagar - supersköna och kliar inte.

Deletedet är otroligt svårt att hålla stilen under vintern tycker jag! jag köpte en fin cape tidigare i höstas, men när det är så kallt och snöigt som det är nu i sverige är den för tunn tyvärr. då får jag ta fram min dunjacka, men jag tycker jag ser ut som skogsmulle i den! ;)
ReplyDeleteYes, that's is very often the problem, but that's also why a fur is a little bit better. Or a very chic duvet jacket and then focus on a beautiful and warm shawl!
DeleteUggs är det bästa, hade också curlingkängor förut men när det gäller att hålla värmen är uggsen nästan bra och mysigare, dock inte mot fukt och slask såklart. Minkpälsar ger också betydligt bättre värme än fårskinnspäls.
ReplyDeletemmmm ... I hate UGGs on me, on grown ups, but realise that they are so practical, especially with a dog or with kids where you end up in the park for many hours in this chilly weather. Might need to get one ... Hm.
DeleteUllfrotté underst! Använder underställ i mjuk ullfrotté, otroligt värmande. Handledsvärmare i mjuk ull och samma på benvärmare. Är man varm om fötter, hand och fotleder brukar man frysa mindre. Dessutom använder jag "värmande kuber" som man knäcker och de utsöndrar värme i vantarna. Kan kokas och sedan återanvändas:) Så skönt då jag lätt fryser om händerna. Din kappa är verkligen så elegant!

ReplyDeleteJag satt bredvid en kvinna i helgen på en middag som berättade att hon alltid har ett underställ i merinoull på sig på vintern då hon alltid fryser. Så även under denna middag! Hon hade förvisso långbyxor och blus över.
