The ordinary life

Having children demands some sort of activity every day, especially with a small boy perhaps, but I do think all children need a lot of different environments, stimulation and being able to observe other kids and grown-ups. Not only for their own pleasure and satisfaction, but also for ours. Both M and I are now, when we have a family, doing things we probably never would have done otherwise, things that would be including too many other people, less fancy food, more basic things... etc. But we both find some sort of joy in this also. The simplicity, the ordinary life appears much, much more when you have a small toddler to worry about. Because the reality truly is, that if Alexis is happy, we can all relax and enjoy.

  1. Is the weather on Switzerland so fine? Then you may experience quite a shock when you come to Stockholm now. Today it's windy, rainy and +5 only...:-/

    1. It certainly feels like boys tend to have much more of a need to run around and climb things, then girls?!

  5. Hi Stina, first let me really give my praise for a wonderful, inspirational and interesting blog. I have been an interested sharer for over a year now. One thing that I have been wondering about is which language/languages do you use with Alexis? I assume M doesn't speak swedish? These things are very interesting to me and I believe it to be a great advantage for people to be bi-lingual.
    Have a great evening! //E

    1. Thank you for reading!

We speak Swedish (me, when I'm alone), English (us, when we're all together) and French, (when M is alone with him). Often it's also some sort of mix between them all.

  6. I totally agree! I have a 15-month old boy and we have to get out every day otherwise both of us go a bit crazy at home. Love it though and like you say, as long as he is happy I am happy and relaxed. Thank you for a great blog!

In anyway it's healthy to return to reality of life of most people from time time it enriched us. Even in stockholm less warm you will have enjoyed of these last days, and seein your family is such a pleasue,

    1. Hi Uta,

absolutely and I do believe we have to be able to enjoy all different environments. And fact is that kids like most things normal, like going to a park, playing in the grass etc etc.

      Hugs,

  9. Is Alexis enjoying some Magnum Ice? I totally love this very fat and unhealthy stuff...and its also a memory in my own childhood, when my dad bought us some when we drove down to france and he had to stop at the gas station!
Its so important to let a child just be a child, even if it brings some simplicity with it.

      Cosy memory!

Totally agree Lena, children needs to be children and do things that benefits them and make them grow as small spirits and humans!

    1. Hi Charlotte,

My mother says I was almost as wild as a boy, climbing trees, running around and just needed a lot of loss of energy. My sister was the opposite! She liked to sit still and more play with things.

  11. Haha!
