Beauty tips

I've got some questions about beauty tips and routines lately and since not much have changed from the time when I wrote this, I thought a share with you something else unpredictable.
Every evening I drink a bottle of beer. Most times alcohol free but not always, and certainly not in the weekends. From time to time I need the help and the satisfaction of what only this substance can do and then I have something stronger. But beer contains so many natural good things for the body, like a lot of B-vitamin (good for your hair, nails, skin cells etc), minerals, yeast to just mention a few. I drink it because I started to like beer when I was expecting Alexis and there was not many fun alcohol free alternatives to choose from. I think it's refreshing and has just as much variety as wine if you are a connoisseur and have an interest to dig deeper then what the supermarket offer, plus it's healthy in a normal, intake amount every day and truly I prefer it anytime instead of just drinking water to all meals.

So cheers!

    1. I wish It would be that easy to conclude - but since I've had migraine since I was 13 years old and most certainly did not drink alcohol at all, in fact I was very reserved towards alcohol until I became 23 years old, I can't see the red string. For sure, any sort of alcohol in any kind of way will make me have more migraine and sometimes get a hangover (long time since though) but a bottle of alcohol free beer wont hurt at all and has nothing to do with my migraine unfortunately.

And I don't drink it EVERY day, but almost. What impacts my migraine more is the insulin level (like I could never eat anything sweet when I'm hungry and always make sure I eat proper food often with focus on good fat and protein and carbs after), enough sleep and being as stressless as possible. The rest is the hormones, weather, light and the sickness itself that controls.

      Thank you anyhow!
      Best,
      stina

  3. Did botox help your migraines? I know that can help with them in some cases.

    1. Yes it does! I use it in my trigger points, both in the fore head, in the side of the head and back in my neck. As soon as I am back in Stockholm and have my neurologist since 13 years back, he'll do it on me again!

    1. Oh dear,

I eat so much carbs in all ways possible! I think you can eat carbs and still be slim if you don't over eat, but that rule goes for anything you put in your mouth! There is no need to exclude food or certain ingredients!

  5. Dear Stina, I know a little bit about migraine and you can be sure it has nothing to do with your daily bottle of beer....
For my whole life I always had more or less migraine, after giving birth of my two sons it dissapears completely. Then we moved to Zurich and BAMM : it was back more than ever. IT has to do with a certain weather constellation you can only find in this area (Close to the Alps, Lake of Constance etc.) exactly where we are living ;-// it´s called FÖHN. I can tell you days in advance when the FÖHN is coming.
So drink your beer, I do exactly the same (started in pregnancy) and I am a real Beer-Pro since I like it so much .

    1. Cheers! They said me in hospital, that if you have problems with nursing(little milk) you should drink a beer. Allready for that reason you can have one!

    2. I know, the FÖHN what the heck is that? But it's true that in Switzerland (Geneva is worst) I get so much more head ache!

I continue to drink my beer and for Anonymous, that's just perfect since my milk was not enough last time!!!

  6. I love this blog post! We are all multi-faceted people and it's the usual habits or likes/dislikes that make us who we are. I don't like regular beer however sometimes there is nothing better than a cold ginger beer on a hot day. Lauren in London x

  7. I do this too! Maybe 1-3 days a week, but I would love to every day. I started after i read that because beer is made out of hops it's rich in silica. I vary the choices of beer, sometimes alcohol free aswell.

  8. A bottle of beer (alcoholfree or with alcohol) does not harm anybody (except you are ill, pregnant or not an adult for the alcohol versions). It is really full of good things for your body, no wonder the monks have been nourished only by beer during lent (fasting period) in earlier times. I'm from Munich that's probably why I see all the advantages of beer ;-) But I'm speaking of one bottle not of getting drunk every day or getting slowly into alcoholism (just to prevent all possbile upcoming comments).
Although I'm from Bavaria my favourite beer is not a bavarian beer. I really like Kilkenny and the more bitter beers like Pilsner Beer (Becks etc.)
Have you ever tried Karamalz, Stina? It is an alcoholfree malt beer/drink for children, it is a bit sweet an very rich. But served ice-cold it is really nice.

    Have a nice day,
    Stefanie

  9. I have to say that there can be a connection between drinking beer and migraine.I get migraine every time I drink beer (or eat anything with gluten, but I'm not allergic to gluten) and it is because I suffer about ibs. Ibs is very usual thing to get for people who are reacting to the stress with their head or stomach. Sometimes I really feel like having one Kilkenny:D But no, life is not always fair!

  10. Dear Stina what a funny pic I loooove it
For me I heard that champaign contains full of goods things also for heatlh as well as red wine for heart.
In anyway a good fresh beer when hot I also appreciate it, what I prefer is to have my glass of wine or champaign when beginning of cooking the evening before my husband arrives! Why not to try a beer?
But when we ca not drink a beer without alchol is an excellent idea,
    Big hugs

All lycka till dig!

  13. Hi Stina, since you mentioned that your migraines are hormone related and they started at age 13, I'm assuming it is estrogen. Have you tried birth control pills? Thanks for the daily "tipple" advice : )

    1. You shouldn't use estrogen containing birth control pills if you have migraine with aura as it might increase your chance of getting a blood clot and stroke!

    2. No birth control pills I can not eat! I'e had a spiral the times I did not want to get pregnant!

  14. People are so hypocriticals if they dont want or dont drink anything this is their problems...
Leave people to be happy, with a reasonably glass of beer, wine or anything!
If you dont eat meat, you will not try to convince others to begin to be vegeterians.... Freedom and comprehension is the beginning of the wiseness. I hate all these comments who look to keep the truth of life!

  21. Well, I really don't think that drinking beer can have anything in common with beauty (the vitamins you can get from another source, which isn't as rich in calories), but nice indulgence anyway....:-)

  22. Dear Stina, I hope you could help me although my question is not actually linked to this post. I am visiting Stockholm this weekend and I notices that there will be All saints' day (alla helgons dag). Do you know whether the shops will be closed - I am not meaning big chains or department stores but smaller boutiques around the town.

    Kind regards,

    M

    1. No, no, no .. Stockholm is not like that, some stores might close earlier but the most interesting ones will most certainly be open!

      Enjoy my birth town!

Check out Nathalie Schuterman on Birjerjarlsgatan, my favourite when it comes to bags, clothes and shoes!
And have Köttbullar on Saturday lunch at Sturehof and enjoy a glas of Swedish beer to it!
