Exercise

Ohhh there's so many things I long to do! Exercise for example! I long for my daily walks where I cleared my head and got my blood pumping!
With Alexis walking in a turtle speed, exploring every rock on the road and Leon in the pram it's not much muscle work going on and I can just feel how my body scream for some heart beat! This Sunday I took a short walk around the block in the spring atmosphere and it felt so liberating! Pilates, pulse vibrating walks, spinning on my Orbitreck in front of a SATC episode or something else easy going, 20min long and fun/amusing - well it sounds like music to me!

After these two close pregnancies (two in three years), I hardly put on any weight after, which I'm of course happy for, but the texture needs to get better and I always love when my body feels strong, vital and toned without loosing too much curves. At the moment I more feel like a body with soft tissue on ... We need to help it a little on the way. I just wish that the top part of my body (you know what I mean) would have kept some volume, but my two little boys took the best of it for sure ... morr ...

How do you work out? Did your body change much after having children?

    Kram Katti

    1. Thank you thank you thank you for this kind comment! I'm humble! I think my life story is one of a kind also and I know my thoughts and beliefs in the good things in life and miracles, is the reason for them. I am grateful every day - now I have other dreams! Moving south of Europe in the end and have my dream house, my dream garden, my dream architecture and all my family close for example!

      Big hug,
      stina

  2. Well, not only pregnancies, but also ageing changes a lot. I turned 40 last year and things don't become easier, I'm telling you. After my younger son was born, which was almost 5 years ago, I just had to struggle quite much to be back in shape. But maybe because by that time I'd had quite an easy ride and managed to look good and slender without much work. So I didn't actually have any strong "background", if you will. And in the bitter end I hired a personal trainer for like 6 months and changed my whole lifestyle, including the way I eat. Now I really like weight-lifting and short but intense training forms, which are, as the most recent research shows, actually very good for you. But sure, everybody should do what works and pleases just them, but challenging your body one day comes as inevitable part of the mission of keeping yourself fit and helthy. So enjoy your walks as long as they work....;-)

  3. Hej, Stina! You are doing a great job! And you look in wonderful shape:-) Yes, the body changes after birth, I have two little babies of my own, similar ages like yours, but I found that all the care and stress and lack of sufficient sleep and change of habits meant loss of weight for me. I am now much slimmer and weigh around 10 kilos less than before I got pregnant. There's a price, of course - lack of energy and stamina sometimes, but overall, I am now much happy with my body image. I would love to tone it up a bit, too, and maybe a sauna once a week would be great, but right now unfortunately I have no time for this. So, walks in the park from time to time, should do the work. For me good cosmetics is also a must, esp. after a certain age. I am 30 myself.

  4. Hi Stina, love your blog, but rarely comment - apologies.
I had 3 pregnancies, 2 very close together, and while I didn't gain weight, it was the same thing as you describe: a feeling of not being toned, having lost muscle and generally not as fit as before. I did a lot of yoga before, during and after my pregnancies, and although it's not a quick fix, it worked for me.
Slow and steady, without too much stress on the body. Yoga and lots of long walks helped me to regain my strength and tone. My youngest is now nearly 9, so the baby and toddler stage is distant, but I wanted to assure you that you'll be back to your former toned self, it's totally possible. Just take your time - after all, pregnancy and nursing take a long time, it's only normal to take at least hat much time to feel your body is back to its former tone.
Thanks for sharing your life with us x

  5. Have had 1 child when I was almost 40. Didn't put on much weight, maybe 10 kilos, lost it fast. Would like to lose about 5 kilos and be more toned. Used to be quite slim. But hey am almost 42 and work long hours and eat a LOT and love a drink. Aging not child birth is the thing that has affected me…Plus I stopped smoking. That made me chubbier x PS you look fab x

    3. Who doesn't???? I prefer to drink wine at least five days per week! Or a cold beer which I discovered when I was breastfeeding Leon. (In Switzerland the recommend you to drink one beer per day (low alcohol or alcohol free) for the milk production (and it worked for me, I had ,milk three month longer then with Alexis). And now I love a nice beer!

  7. Walking is great exercise but I agree a bit faster is better and walking uphill is good as well. I walk and I clean my house, I try not to sit still during the day for longer than 10 minutes, even if I'm really tired... sitting hurts my back and slows my metabolism (I'll be 44 this year and I think age does not help metabolism). I do a stretching regime called "Classical Stretch" which has really created toned muscle and flattened my stomach after 3 children, it's only 25 minutes a day so easy to fit in. I have done Pilates which I like but it's time consuming, I might start with a personal trainer for a session or two a week to get in shape for summer, but soon spring will be here and the walks will be easier.
When Alexis goes to kindy you can walk with Leon in his pram and really go for a long one with a good pace. I bet you'll find that invigorating! Maybe combined with a stretching/pilates video at home and you'll be feeling great. You look wonderful Stina and I like those purple trainers.

    1. Dani, ten minutes? I sit on my backside for hours, of dear.
Stina, Dani sent me Classical Stretch and it has been great for my posture, I was becoming a hunchback.

    2. I have back problems as well, and recently I started weight training again and I take courses in Pilates. For years I have kept my XS size, also after my two boys, but I am aware that I have to exercise to stay healthy. Have a nice evening ! Hugs B.

  8. Your lucky to have a nice nature tracks just a kilometer away from your home. Both the tracks at Ensta krog which starts justs by the Roslagsbanan and also the more adventurous tracks at Hagby, more like trails. The first ones can be walked with a tram, but not the latter.

  9. I have had 3 babies and my body is very different now: but in good ways. I work out a lot and eat very healthy. It takes a lot of effort but it is effort that is worth it to me.

You do look great. I would love a little more 'fullness' up top too.

  10. After my first pregnancy my body just went back to its previous shape (if not even better) without much work, well running after a wild little kid does help a lot! Lol
But now that I'm expecting my second I can feel that this pregnancy will be different, I've already started to feel back pain (I'm only 17 weeks pregnant) and things just don't feel like they did with the first pregnancy, so I've started doing prenatal yoga hoping it will ease the back pain and make my body more flexible!! How my body will be/look after birth I don't know, but I'm not expecting things to go back as fast as they did the first time!! I guess I'll have to continue with yoga and maybe combine it with some other exercise, which won't be bad as it will give me some ME time 😉! And since beach 2014 is out of the question for me I'll have to focus on beach 2015 hehehe....

  11. Katti- fantastiskt bra kommentar!

  14. EVERYONE: So interesting to read! I'll start Pilates in two weeks time now, hopefully two times per week with an instructor and taking my morning walks with Leon when Alexis is happy in the kindergarden!

I also prefer my body now rather then before I got the children, as I said, I just wish that my curves (breast) wasn't gone. Which they unfortunately are. I tried on a new bikini plus a new swimsuit yesterday - NOT fun. totally flat. I look like a boy!

    Thank you again!

  15. Ha,ha, Stina, you'll never look like a boy regardless which breast measurement you have. Feminine and beautiful as always! Did you try Eres swimwear again? I bought a new one last week...
