Chanel versus Essie

There's two things you'll seldom see me without - some form of colour on my lips and nail colour. I feel naked without and think it's the perfect fun twist of an outfit and style. But lately I've made myself a promise. I'm forbidden to be as superficial as I've been throughout the years and continuing buying the Chanel ones just because I love their package. They last one-two days while the less fancy one Essie last not seldom, a week.
Essie also makes so much more shades and Chanel can't even be compared since they've become so bad lately and really last nothing. I'm always putting under coat, two layers of colour and not seldom top coat, but even so, they start falling off after a very short amount of time.

So Essie is clearly the winner and I will continue paying a third of the price for something that is just so much better. Don't you all agree?

  1. Totally agree! I have always favoured Essie since I first tried their nailpolish about 3 years ago. I only buy other brands if there is a very special colour that Essie does not have. But this polish lasts so good! On toenails it sits for several weeks! Nice colour families you display in the picture. /Laila

  3. Jag vill rekommendera IsaDoras nagellack. Fantastisk kvalitet och många fina färger. Jag har slutat med de dyra märkena också!

  5. Agree!I bought the Chanel ones, to be honest, only because of their packaging also;)started buying some cheaper ones from the drug-store, like essie, sally hansen, anny, zoya! And also some ones from "catrice" and "essence", but i think those brands are only available in Germany?!?But honesty i can totally recommend all of them. Specially "catrice" and "essence" they only cost about 1-3 Euros and they really have some 1:1 dupes to Chanel.
Packaging is not all….;)Honestly, who sees the difference if its a 1 or 25 Euro nail-polish?

  6. Agree! And apart from the long lasting-effect I find Essie so easy to put on, which isn´t always the case./Greta

  7. I agree too! I've always felt a bit glamorous when I was wearing Chanel, but found the quality wasn't there. Some things are worth splurging on (skincare) and others not so much. Essie is great though, and much less $$$.

  8. I bought Essie in NY more than 10 years before today and it cost 2.95$ .
OPI was 6$ and we pay so much for both of them that I cannot believed it when they arrived in Europe.
So Chanel is expensive but they have beautiful colours and on me they are lasting as well as Essie.
Sorry girls but we can mix up following the colours we want. But true that Chanel is too expensive we pay the name. Isnt it the same for bags, etc...

  11. If you like Essie you would love OPI. It's not just a quality polish, the brush is the absolute best there is, no other polish, expensive or cheap is even close to that brushquality. OPI is so easy to put on with a perfect result every time and longlasting as well! There is a reason why almost all highquality nailsalons worldwide uses OPI as their no1. When you realize how easy it is to get a perfect result with OPI, you will never use anything else even though the bottle is boring;-) The price is close to Essies. Try it and think about the difference in the brush, it's outstanding!

  12. I've heard that about Chanel before, but I buy tax-free and I love painting my nails at work in front of the computer while I read so I don't mind if I have to repaint my nails often. Doesn't even take 5 minutes. Dark colours it's usually every 2 days, pale colours every 3. Have never tried your reds or strong pinks.

What I think I may abandon is Chanel's remover, it's just too hard to find. Some months ago I was forced to buy scented remover pads from max makeup cherimoya or something like that at CDG, it was the only remover I could find and my plane was leaving. I was very unconvinced but now I love them! I miss the little Chanel bottle but the pads are more convenient to have at the office.

  15. Nessa is right OPI is better than Essie and keep very well and they have many cure bottles for nails in bad conditions.
I also like the dark colours of Chanel that are not the same with the others.
