Pale pink dinner wear

// PINK PANTHER //

So do i need to tell you that it was still summer in Geneva? 33 degrees when we arrived which is of course slightly too warm for my taste but it ended it with pleasant 26, except for two days where it rained.
The city is growing on me for sure! Any Geneva readers? What id good and bad about the city? How is autumn/ winter etc?

  1. I didn't like Geneva that much when I first moved here. But 8 years later, it has really grown on me and I adore it now. I love the international atmosphere, the elegance, the calmness, and of course the glorious nature around. I love Sweden and everyone is very beautiful there, but everyone looks exactly the same and it's quite refreshing that it's not so ridiculously trendy here. It makes me appreciate trends much more :)

    Geneva is packed with people from all over the world, so while it's a very small city, it is full of ambitious, smart and driven people that have travelled the world.

    I think the autumns are absolutely wonderful. Warm, sunny and beautiful, and the nature around Geneva explodes in colours that lasts longer than in Sweden. You can sit outside all the way until November. (So you get lots of usage out of your autumn clothes, which in Sweden is really hard since you have to wear winter clothes so quickly). However, from December to March, it's very grey and dull weather. It doesn't get too cold, but very little sun. The solution is to go up to the mountains, to enjoy the brilliant blue skies and white sparkling ski slopes every weekend until April comes around.

    I like Geneva so much these days, I don't even mind how all shops are closed on Sunday's anymore. It used to infuriate me, but now I find it relieving to not be in consumer-mode all week and it really encourages you to go out in nature and do activities and fun stuff with the family.

  4. They are all the international organizations, the weather is not at all as Katia describes but I was never in Sweden of course it should be better, winters less longer, but like Francoise I
    Find Geneva very changed since some years.... Calm! Ah yes it is for sure.... But for a family who travel, go to mountains, live in nice area have a lot of friends of course it should be more ageeeable than the swedish climate and French Swiss have a nice language and not so narrow minded as in Swiss German closer to the French people more than the German people.... But for exhibitions, art, shops, etc it's very restricted. If you want somewhere calm, you are served. I am living here since ever I don't like what Geneva becomes but its my point of view. When you have money there is no problem but there is a crisis also and very poor people that we never mention... Switerland and particularly Geneva was a little paradise 30 years ago. Ask to the M' s parents if they are real genovese. You have to make your own experience without asking dear Stina it depends from where we are, money we have its expensive in gva (rentals, insurance etc). And M should know better than everyone no?? All my best for your choice.

  6. Dear Stina,
    I would like to buy your christian Louboutin boots. But 400 Euro for used boots are in my opinion a bit to much. Would you sell it for half of the price?
    Greetings

    1. Hi there! Sorry for interfering here. I just wanted to say that it's a good price for a used pair of Louboutin boots. You can check for yourself what second hand market offers them for. Anyway, maybe you better email Stina for a one-on-one conversation. Best of luck // Katja

  8. So interesting, would love to learn more about Geneva as well. Why do you of Stina's readers that have responded think it has changed so much? Not as safe as before? Or what is the change about?

    1. What I've heard it's because elf immigrants like everywhere, where there are big segregations gaps. Sweden is starting to be the same, in one direction we have poverty and the other wealth. It causes jealousy and people are doing things to survive.

      On the other hand a lot of wealthy and educated Muslims have taken over Geneva as well as Russians. They come with an enormous amount of money and buying houses for extreme amounts of money which increases the house prices in general which means that normal Geneva citizens can't afford a house any longer nor buy their own apartments which means that the rental prices also goes up and it's just crazy expensive to live their and to find a home!

      That, is what I heard from Geneva citizens a big problem and what has changes the city. But in other hand, all of these money circulating in Geneva makes it a very high end place and quality in schools, sick car, hospitals etc since they also spend a lot of money.

  9. Not safe anymore, very boring unless you have a lo a lot of friends and money....very few luxury shops and as it is A serious crisis, rentals are too high, only strangers buying (arabs, Chinese, Russians....) no Geneva has lost very much... Its not attractive as it was years before... Climate?! Difficult because Geneva is in a hole and all around mountains so its a depressed town for many foreigners coming here. Long winter also.... Not cold this year its true but humid and boring..... Sorry to disappoint you everyone, its the reality. Many drugs people around stations, quais, dangerous if they dont have their dose...
    Sad main centrer.... No gva is not like it was even 10 years before...... If you can leave to travel very very often its ok.
